back in october i stumbled upon listening to a lovely interview with author adam gopnik. the ex montrealer gopnik wrote "winter: five windows on the season" which was broadcast as part of the massey lectures this past november. the interview delved into his passion for all things winter. it reminded me of my own love for canadian winters which is something i have easily forgotten over the course of my life in toronto. even more so this year. listening on the weekend morning, i was reminded of northwestern winters spent building snow tunnels at night. it brought back afternoon ice skating on fast ponds and ice fishing frozen lakes. i remembered snowshoeing around heavy, snow laden pine trees and the way that a porch light makes fresh snow sparkle.

if you are interested in hearing a bit more watch this?
